Optihist AZ Eye Drop belongs to the class of medicines called antihistamines (antiallergics) used to reduce eye inflammation. It is used to prevent and treat eye disorders caused by seasonal and perennial allergic conjunctivitis. Eye inflammation is a common condition in which eyes become swollen and red.
Optihist AZ Eye Drop contains Azelastine, an antiallergic drug that works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance responsible for causing allergic reactions. Thus, it relieves symptoms of allergies and reduces eye inflammation.
Optihist AZ Eye Drop is only for ophthalmic use (eyes). You are advised to use Optihist AZ Eye Drop for as long as your doctor has prescribed it based on your medical condition. Sometimes, you may experience itching, burning or watering in the eyes as its side effects. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects worsen or persist, please consult your doctor.
Please inform your doctor if you are allergic to Azelastine or other medicines. Optihist AZ Eye Drop is not recommended for children below 4 years to treat eye disorders caused by seasonal allergic conjunctivitis and for children below 12 years to treat eye disorders caused by perennial allergic conjunctivitis. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult your doctor before taking Optihist AZ Eye Drop. Drive only if your vision is clear, as Optihist AZ Eye Drop may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after using it.
